FolderScope is a disk analysis tool that helps you explore, audit, and manage storage space. Use it to scan folders, analyse file types, compare snapshots over time, and export detailed reports in multiple formats.
- Analyse folder sizes and disk usage at every level
- View file type breakdowns and percentage of disk consumed
- Perform advanced scans with live filters
- Compare folder snapshots to track changes over time
- Export reports as CSV, JSON, or plain text
- Safely delete files or open them directly in Explorer
Folder Details
Displays a list of folders and files in the current selection with name, type, size, file count, and last modified date. Use this tab to drill down into large directories and identify space hogs at a glance.
File Types
Shows file extensions, their total size, and their percentage of disk usage. Useful for understanding how storage is distributed — for example, whether video files or project assets are dominating a folder.
Advanced Scan
Scans a folder with precise filters to narrow results:
- File extension
- Minimum file size
- Date modified range
- Include or exclude subfolders
Snapshot Compare
Lets you compare two saved snapshots of the same folder side by side. Highlights differences in file type sizes and folder totals so you can see exactly what has changed between scans.
Snapshots store folder size and file type breakdowns at a specific point in time. They are saved as .fsnap files that you can reload and compare at any point later.
- Save Snapshot — saves the current scan state for the selected folder
- Load Snapshot — loads a previously saved
.fsnapfile - Compare Snapshots — highlights differences between two saved states
Export data from the File Types tab or the Snapshot Compare tab. Three formats are supported:
- CSV — for use in spreadsheets (Excel, Google Sheets)
- JSON — for programmatic data processing
- Text — for plain readable reports
- Exclude hidden files and folders from scans
- Set folder depth limits to control scan depth
- Set minimum file size thresholds to filter small files
- Navigate to the folder you want to monitor and run an initial scan.
- Click to save a
.fsnapfile. - Later, after changes have occurred, click to load the original file.
- Click to rescan the folder and compare against the loaded snapshot.
- Review the highlighted differences — file type size changes, folder size changes — or export the results.
